THE BIG GUMBO SHOW

The Big Gumbo Show is a 10-person New Orleans Tribute Band that is inspired by my performing and beginning my life of music in the city of New Orleans. New Orleans has held a deep place in my heart as I began to live and work there as a young man starting in this music business.

The Big Gumbo Show is a historic time-travel experience through the music and culture of the City of New Orleans, as presented by Singer and Entertainer Gregory Boyd. We will start with the post-slavery sounds of the Black Indians and their tribal songs and rhythms, which are the true heartbeat and foundation for all music deriving from the Crescent City. We will then perform the music of Mahalia Jackson and the sound of Black Gospel music, then onto the music of great Louis Armstrong, jump blues with Louis Jordan, and then ending the first set with the birth of New Orleans Rhythm and Blues, or what is to be called “Rock and Roll” with the music of Smiley Lewis and Fats Domino. The 2nd set will consist of New Orleans funk, and Mardi Gras music, featuring the music of Professor Longhair, Dr. John, Earl King, and the mighty Neville Brothers. Songs like Yellow Moon, Hey Pocky Way, Big Chief, Mardi Gras in New Orleans, Iko Iko, and ending with the crowd favorite; What a Wonderful World.  I aim to give the audience an experience of traveling to New Orleans. Living the history and culture of New Orleans. Feel the spirit of this enchanted city, and above all have an all-out great evening of music and entertainment.
